This photograph shows the same area after laser cleaning. The original patina, veining, coloration of the stone, and friable elements were preserved. The cleaned exterior masonry will now be permitted to breathe. Any water that infiltrates the stone will easily evaporate, where previously it had become trapped by the soot encrustation.
