Chicago Opera Theater’s Iolanta - Sold Out

Tuesday, October 23, 2018

Opera at the Marble Palace! Experience the opulent music of the Gilded Age with Tchaikovsky’s last opera. Chicago Opera Theater’s Music Director and conductor Lidiya Yankovskaya leads a discussion and concert, featuring performances by the cast of COT’s upcoming Iolanta.

From The Love of Three Oranges to The Nose to Eugene Onegin, the great Russian composers have left their mark on the canon of opera and classical music. And yet, only a small handful are consistently performed in the United States. Join singers and artists from Chicago Opera Theater as they celebrate and discuss the legacy of Russian opera in America and Chicago and dive deep into the life and works of famed symphonic and operatic composer Pyotr Illych Tchaikovsky in anticipation of the Chicago premiere of Iolanta in November at COT.

Enjoy the historic Driehaus Museum before a discussion, and performances, doors open at 5 p.m.

Staley Music Director and Iolanta conductor Lidiya Yankovskaya is joined by stage director Paul Curran, as well as singers from Chicago Opera Theater’s Iolanta:
Katherine Weber (Iolanta)
Chris Magiera (Robert)
Mikhail Svetlov (Rene)
John Irvin (Vaudemont)
