Read below for more information on planning your next visit to the Driehaus Museum. Last admission to the Museum is one hour before closing, at 2 pm on Wednesdays and at 4 pm the rest of the week.

Visitor Updates:

The Driehaus Museum elevator is closed to staff and visitors until further notice, due to ongoing renovations next door at our Murphy Auditorium, There is no elevator access to the Second and Third Floors.

The last entry to the Museum is one hour before closing.

‘Haus Walk Wednesdays: On the second Wednesday of the month from 3:00-6:00 pm, we offer a gallery stroll through the First Floor period rooms of the Nickerson Mansion. It is free to Illinois residents with identification.

Tickets may be purchased up to two weeks in advance. We always welcome walk-ins.

Last admission is one hour before the Museum closes: at 2 pm Wednesdays and 4 pm the rest of the week.

Tours are $5 plus the cost of regular admission and are offered on a “first-come, first-served” basis. They are not available to reserve online.

On Wednesdays-Sundays, the Driehaus Museum offers Private Guide-Led Tours for an exclusive experience for your visit with family and friends. Contact Groups@DriehausMuseum.org to make your private reservation and to inquire about pricing for groups of over 6 people.

Parking

While we do not offer parking onsite, you can reserve your parking spot via the Driehaus Museum SpotHero Parking Page with rates up to 50% off drive-up.

Coat Room and Bag Check

Coat Room and Bag Check

A Self-Serve Coat Room is available with limited capacity in the historic Butler’s Pantry. Items not permitted in the Coat Room include electronic equipment and devices, food, tobacco (or e-cigarettes), bicycles, scooters, or strollers. The Richard H. Driehaus Museum is not responsible for any lost, stolen or misplaced items left in the Coat Room.

  • Our historic home and collections care staff kindly request everyone to restrain the great temptation to touch the beautiful interiors and art on view. But ask lots of questions about them!
  • Ropes and signs are in place to indicate restricted areas.
  • Please be mindful of volume when using mobile devices.
  • Enjoy photographing your visit and post images on social media. We want to see them! Tag us @DriehausMuseum. Images captured on Driehaus Museum property shall be for private, noncommercial use only. Flash, video recording, microphones, tripods, monopods, professional cameras, and/or use of selfie-sticks are not permitted.
  • Food and beverage are not permitted in the galleries.If you need a break to refuel, tickets are good for re-entry all day!

  • Enhanced and frequent cleaning procedures and schedules are in place.
  • Credit card only transactions are allowed at this time.
  • Guests who feel sick prior to their admission time are asked to reschedule their visit.

Please note: Exposure to COVID-19 is an inherent risk in any public place where people are present. Despite all precautionary measures taken, we cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed during your visit. We are following protection measures as outlined by the CDC and the City of Chicago and ask that visitors do as well.

The Museum’s elevator is closed to visitors and staff due to ongoing renovations at the Murphy Auditorium.

The Main floor of the Museum remains accessible and the wheelchair accessible entrance is located at 50 East Erie Street, next door to the Museum’s main entrance.
