Image Rights and Reproduction Requests

The Driehaus Museum is currently accepting image requests for research, publication, presentation, and product. Please note that many of the artworks in our collection are protected by copyright law. It is the responsibility of the requester to ensure compliance with all applicable copyright and intellectual property laws. We aim to facilitate access to our collection while safeguarding the rights and integrity of the artworks and artists represented within it, and we appreciate your cooperation in upholding copyright standards. The Artists Rights Society (ARS) may administer some artist’s copyrights. For more resources about copyright law please visit the U.S. Copyright Office, Creative Commons, and WIPO Copyright Portal.

We are happy to provide a low-resolution digital image of an object in our permanent collection for educational, research, and lecture use only.

Once we receive your request, our museum staff will review it and get back to you within 2–5 weeks with further details, including any associated fees and a timeline for image delivery. Costs vary and will be determined based upon the image fee schedule below. An invoice will be sent outlining the cost, followed by an image reproduction agreement. Advanced payment required. The museum will review each request on a case-by-case basis and grant usage approval if it aligns with our policy and applicable copyright permissions. The museum reserves the right to deny any image requests.

All proceeds support the Museum, helping us engage the Chicago and global community through explorations in art, architecture, and design.
