2019 A Tale of Today Emerging Artist Fellows

Darrell McKinney

Darrell McKinney is a designer exploring the intersections across design, art, and architecture. His practice speaks to how design can be utilized to explore the complexities of politics, race, and social infrastructure through the interconnectedness of history, people, and places. Currently his work spans spatial design, object design, and social practice. 

Jeffly Gabriela Molina
Jeffly Gabriela Molina is a Chicago-based interdisciplinary artist from Táchira, Venezuela. Molina first moved to the U.S. in 2007 and lived in Miami, Florida for four years—while there, she attended the New World School of the Arts, and in 2011, she transferred to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2013 and a Master of Fine Arts in 2016. In addition to participating in multiple group and solo exhibitions, she has been commissioned to create three public sculptures: Nest, Casa de Turpiales, and Vaca-Mariposa, all of which are permanently installed in several locations in Miami, Florida. Her most recent solo exhibition titled Suspiro opened at Kavi Gupta Chicago in February of 2018. 

Luis Rodríguez Rosario
Luis Rodríguez Rosario is a Puerto Rican artist residing in Chicago with an MFA in Sculpture from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In 2013, he presented his first solo exhibition titled A fuerza de pulmón in Área: Lugar de Proyectos as part of his residency with the Proyecto Graderío. Luis has participated in several exhibitions within Puerto Rico and the United States of America; such as in the Antiguo Arsenal de la Marina Española, La Productora, 20/20, Área: Lugar de Proyectos, The National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts & Culture in Chicago and Sullivan Gallery.

Brittney Leeanne Williams
Brittney Leeanne Williams is a Chicago-based artist, originally from Los Angeles. Her work has been exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami (Untitled Art Fair), Venice, Italy (Venice Biennale), London, and Hong Kong, as well as in Chicago and throughout the Midwest. Williams attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2008-09). She is a Joan Mitchell Foundation grant recipient and a Luminarts Fellow. Williams’ artist residencies include Arts + Public Life (University of Chicago) and McColl Center for Art + Innovation, among others. Her set design for the short film Self-Deportation has been featured at film festivals nationwide and internationally, including Anthology Film Archives (NYC) and the Pineapple Underground Film Festival (Hong Kong).
