Ocean's Eight: Silver Screen Gem Series

Silver Screen Film Gems continue with a screening of 2018’s Ocean’s Eight, introduced by School of the Art Institute Professor Patricia Erens.

Film Synopsis:

In this stylish caper, Debbie Ocean leads an elite, all-female team of thieves and experts in a daring scheme. Their target: the dazzling $150 million diamond necklace adorning the neck of the glamorous actress Daphne Kluger, set to make its debut at the prestigious Met Gala. The trailer is available here. The film will be introduced by School of the Art Institute Professor Patricia Erens, who will set the context for the film with a primer on the visuals and narrative.

Designed for adults ages 18 and over. Running time 1:51 minutes. Popcorn will be served!

About the Speaker:

Patricia Brett Erens is an adjunct professor of film studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She received an MA in English literature from the University of Chicago and her doctorate in film studies from Northwestern University. Professor Erens has published six books on film and art history including Sexual Stratagems: The World of Women in Film, The Jew in American Cinema, and Issues in Feminist Film Criticism.
