Learn how to dance like it’s 1883 in this ballroom dance class featuring lessons on how to do the Two Step and Waltz. Period games will be interspersed throughout the evening to test out your know-how and give your feet a rest. No partner or previous dance experience required. Comfortable shoes for movement recommended. Historical costumes are admired, not required.
About the Instructor:
Chicago native Jeanette Watts is a dance historian and educator known for her engaging presentations on historical dance from the Renaissance through the 1960s. She brings history to life through workshops, lectures, balls, and interactive events that highlight the cultural significance of dance across eras. In addition to teaching, Watts researches period etiquette and costume, often appearing in authentic garments to enhance the historical context. Her work continues to inspire and educate, ensuring that the rich tradition of historical dance remains vibrant and accessible.
