Third Wednesday Nights: Antiphonal Brass
Wednesday, September 18, 2024
Gaudete Brass is joined by young musicians from the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras to fill the Murphy Auditorium with the majestic sound of brass. Exploring a tradition as seen and heard in Venice’s Basilica di San Marco of using space to create antiphonal call and response instrumental music, brass musicians will perform from all over the Murphy Auditorium. Enjoy the music of Giovanni Gabrieli and Petr Eben along with Chicago composers Heidi Joosten and Ephraim Champion. In celebration of Oktoberfest, Gaudete’s hornist Natalie Grana will also share her talents as an alphorn ambassador.
